After spending most of her life engaged in traditional exercise practices, Ylena reluctantly attended a Hot Yoga class (Bikram style) at the behest of a beloved family member. It was at that moment she realized yoga – a slow, intentional, mindful, awareness-building exercise practice – was exactly what she needed to ground down and reconnect to her mind, body and spirit. She discovered that yoga not only strengthened the body, it strengthened the mind, heart and soul; yoga was transformative.

Ylena practiced yoga for nearly 7 years before she decided it was time to take her own yoga practice to the next level by completing the 200-hour Yoga Alliance certified Teacher Training program offered by CorePower Yoga followed by a 50-hour Extension program also offered by CorePower Yoga. She completed yoga teacher training with the intention of not only evolving her own practice by expanding her knowledge of yoga philosophy and developing the ability to design intelligent yoga sequences but also so that she might eventually share her passion for yoga with others through teaching.

In addition to being a 200 hour Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT), Ylena also practices full-time as a Licensed Clinical Psychologist.
